Why is Colon Health so Crucial?

Maintaining a healthy and clean colon may be a lifesaver for you.

There are various colon cleansing products out in the market as well as colon cleansing programs. Some are more effective than others. Bear in mind that effectivity is also a personal thing. Because something works well for one individual does not necessarily mean it will work as well for the next. So there is a certain amount of trial and testing that a person has to go through to find the most effective method for himself.

Regardless of the products you may decide to use, one really important thing to do is to go on a colon cleansing diet. Such a diet will allow you to clean up your colon, removing toxic debris that may have built up in your intestines over a period of time. Like it or not, it is an indisputable fact that we now live in a toxic world. We have polluted our environment, and our food is contaminated with all manner of preservatives, additives, and sometimes even chemicals that are extremely damaging to humans, as in the recent melamine scare. The toxins we ingest and those that we absorb through our environment can build up in our bodies to a dangerous level. We need to have a method for eliminating these poisons from our bodies in order to regain optimal health. A colon cleanse diet does precisely that. It also gets rid of bad bacteria in a person’s body.

A colon cleanse diet requires that you eat a lot of fiber – at least 30 grams a day. Eating a lot of fresh fruit, vegetables and whole grain will help you to reach that requirement. During a colon cleanse diet, you should not eat processed food. Most processed food contains the preservatives and additives that are precisely what you’re aiming to get rid of. Cooked foods require more digestion time, so it’s also not advisable to eat these during a colon cleanse diet. You’ll need to eat as much raw food as you can. Instead of buying canned or bottled juice, you’ll also want to make your own juice, keeping the pulp in. Pulp is fibrous and helpful to the smooth elimination of stool.

It is essential, while on your diet, to drink a lot of water or liquid. (Actually, this is a good life-long habit to maintain.) You should drink approximately 4 liters of water daily. Even when not thirsty, make it a habit to pick up a glass of water and drink. Your body needs it.

Take broths and stews as these are loaded with electrolytes which serve to energize your body.

Take some form of Vitamin C daily. An Ester-C supplement is preferable. Vitamin C builds up your immune system.

Take detoxification baths.

Avoid too much exercise and stressful activities when on a cleansing diet.

Avoid over-eating. You don’t want to put undue pressure on your digestive system at a time when you’re attempting to cleanse it.

Some recommend a lemon detoxification diet. Whichever diet you decide to go on, take it seriously as this is a serious matter. Taking care to maintain a clean colon will add years and vitality to your life.
